Koh Samui is located in the Gulf of Thailand and is the third largest Island in Thailand. Samui was originally inhabited by Thai fishermen around 1500 years ago followed later by Coconut Farmers. Backpackers discovered Koh Samui in the early 1970's and the word started to spread about Koh Samui being an Amazing Tropical Paradise. Koh Samui is now one of the main Tourist destinations in Thailand. People from all over the World flock to Koh Samui for their holidays and with the Amazing White Sandy Beaches, Wonderful Waterfalls, Beautiful Coconut Jungles, Delicious Thai Cuisine and so much more that Koh Samui has to offer it is easy to understand why.
Koh Samui is within easy reach of many other smaller Islands. These include Koh Phangan with its World Famous Full Moon Parties, Koh Tao which boasts as being one of the best diving locations in Thailand and The Ang Thong Thai National Marine Park, many scenes from the Hollywood Movie "The Beach" were filmed in the Ang Thong Marine Park, its a small area of vitually untouched Islands and sea level caves which are best explored by Sea Kayak.
